Cleaning, Checking, Preparing.
Now is the time to go through every component, clean it, check it for any damage and prepare it for painting/reassembling.
Now is a good time to make a list of anything that you want/need to replace.
This is the slow part of the restoration. The more you take your time here there better the outcome at the end. I try to "forensically clean" all my parts in a sense. Just trying to get them to as new a condition as possible.
My mother always said that a bit of warm soapy water didn't hurt anything. But I'm lazy so I'm just going to soak the small parts in "gunk" degreasant and hope the the dirt just falls off. For the larger parts I will brush them down with a wire brush and prepare them for sandblasting.
