Left Crankcase
Start by removing the two double threaded bolts in the outer side of the case using a mole wrench.
Bag and label there.

Now flip the case over and remove the oil seal on the other side,
Next, using a large socket, drift out the right bearing from the outer side of the case to the gearbox side.
Now prize the left bearing oil seal out.
Next remove the spring clip under the oil seal.
Bag and label it.

This bearing can be quite tight. It is worth soaking the crankcase in a bowel of hot water for a few minutes to expand the metal slightly.
Be sure not to soak the bearing as you don't want this to expand.

The bearing is drifted out from the inside (gearbox side) to the outside of the crankcase.
Best to do this quite quickly before the crankcase cools down again.

Spray the crank case with some gunk (or another brand of engine degreasent) and use a dremel tool with a wire brush attachment to loosen the grime.
Wipe clean, wash in some warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry.
It's worth taking your time to remove as much grime and old gasket cement as possible.
Pay particular attention to the raised area around the oil seal assembly, this has a paper gasket that needs to be fully removed.
